Alex Sammon is an award-nominated features writer at Slate, where he has worked since 2022.

His writing has been published in Harper's, The New Republic, n+1, Wired.

 

He has appeared in featured interviews on MSNBC, CNN, and NPR, and a number of other TV shows, podcasts, and radio broadcasts. He was also written up in People Magazine.

He's reported from the forests of Romania, the mountains of Mexico, and the immigrant detention centers of Louisiana.

His work has been recognized in multiple Best American anthologies—Food and Travel 2024, and a notable piece in Sportswriting 2025. He is a multiple-time Writers Guild of America award finalist and a finalist for the 2023 Livingston Award for international reporting.​

He grew up in San Diego, and lives in New York City.
